MATRIMONY
In Holy Matrimony, "a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life," which, "is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament" (CCC 1601). Thereby, the sacrament of marriage becomes an icon revealing something of the mystery by which Christ, the bridegroom, is united to His bride, the Church.
TO BEGIN THE PROCESS
Please contact the parish office at least four months before the proposed wedding date to obtain the registration form. After submitting this information, the office will reach out to set up an introductory meeting.
BASIC CRITERIA
Spokane Diocesan norms require that at least one of the parties be a Roman Catholic and that four months be allowed for preparing for the sacrament of marriage. This entails that your presiding Roman Catholic priest or deacon has established your "freedom to marry" prior to a wedding date being confirmed.
IF THIS IS A SECOND MARRIAGE
In the instance of any prior marriages of either party, no date can be set until a Decree of Nullity is attained through the appropriate diocese. Please contact the office for additional information.
